Procedural expertise

About

Dr. Cayen is a compassionate and experienced orthopaedic surgeon dedicated to helping patients regain their mobility through advanced surgical techniques and personalized care.

With thousands of successful hip replacements, Dr. Cayen specializes in the Direct Anterior Approach—a minimally invasive technique that promotes faster healing and shorter recovery times. During hip replacement, Dr. Cayen also uses computer navigation and a specialized operating room table to cater treatment for each patient.

Dr. Cayen performs robotically-assisted total knee replacement surgery, delivering high accuracy tailored to each patient's unique anatomy. For appropriate candidates, he utilizes the subvastus approach, which can accelerate recovery during the critical first weeks following surgery.

His rigorous training includes a Masters of Science in Kinesiology and Human Movement from the University of Toronto and a Masters of Public Health from Harvard in Healthcare Management in addition to Canadian Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowships. This combination of movement science, healthcare management, and surgical expertise enables him to deliver truly individualized care focused on restoring patients’ active lifestyles.
