Dr. Paul Zalzal is an orthopaedic surgeon who has been performing adult reconstructive surgery for over twenty years. He trained first as an engineer, completing an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Applied Science in biomedical engineering at the University of Toronto, before completing his medical degree and orthopaedic surgery residency at McMaster University and fellowship training in adult reconstruction at Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto. That engineering background shapes his clinical focus on computer-assisted (navigated) hip and knee surgery.
Dr. Zalzal is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at McMaster University and has published peer-reviewed research in arthroplasty, surgical navigation, and orthopaedic biomaterials. He also co-hosts Talking With Docs, a public health-education channel with 1.3M subscribers that explains orthopaedic conditions and procedures in plain language.
