Dr. Jason Werle is an orthopaedic surgeon in Calgary with a practice focused on hip and knee replacement. He completed medical school and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Saskatchewan, followed by adult reconstruction fellowship training at Stanford University. His clinical and research interests include arthritis, joint replacement, revision surgery, avascular necrosis, minimally invasive surgery, hip resurfacing, and direct anterior hip arthroplasty.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jason has held numerous leadership roles, including Site Chief of Surgery at both the Health Resource Centre and Rockyview General Hospital, Program Director for the University of Calgary Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program, and currently serves as Senior Medical Director of the Bone & Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network for Alberta Health Services. He is also the current Head of the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery for the University of Calgary and AHS Calgary Zone, and serves as President of the Canadian Arthroplasty Society.
Raised on a farm near Langenburg, Saskatchewan, Dr. Jason credits his upbringing for instilling the values of hard work and optimism. Outside of medicine, he enjoys golf, curling, hiking, biking, boating, and cheering on the Calgary Flames—while his lifelong support of the Saskatchewan Roughriders has taught him patience.
