After returning to Montreal in 2012, Dr. Zalai joined McGill University's Faculty of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. His clinical practice was based at Lakeshore General Hospital, a community teaching site for medical students, general surgical residents, and surgical oncology fellows. In 2015, he implemented the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) Pathway for colorectal bowel resections at Lakeshore. He also developed and led a new Digestion and Metabolism curriculum for first-year medical students at McGill in 2014 and remains an active lecturer at the undergraduate level.
