Dr. Naim Otaky is a highly distinguished, board-certified General Surgeon and the Medical Director of VM Med. With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Otaky has been instrumental in building VM Med’s reputation as a center of excellence for breast health in Canada. He combines surgical skill with advanced expertise in image-guided diagnostics, allowing him to  guide patients from their initial ultrasound or biopsy all the way through to definitive surgery. Beyond his private practice leadership, he maintains active staff privileges at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Lachine Campus and Jean-Talon Hospital.

Clinical Focus & Expertise

• Comprehensive Breast Oncology: Surgical management of breast cancer, including lumpectomies, mastectomies, and sentinel lymph node biopsies.
• Benign Breast Disease: Evaluation and surgical removal of non-cancerous breast lumps, cysts, and fibroadenomas.
• Advanced Diagnostics: Extensive expertise in breast imaging and performing image-guided diagnostic procedures (ultrasound and stereotactic core biopsies).
• General Surgery: High-volume expertise in foundational general surgery procedures, including minimally invasive gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy) and abdominal hernia repairs.
• Soft Tissue Surgery: Excision of lipomas, cysts, and complex skin lesions.

Instrumental in establishing VM Med’s "rapid diagnostic" model, often allowing patients to receive imaging, biopsy, and surgical consultation within a single visit. Led VM Med to become the first centre in Quebec to earn American College of Radiology MRI accreditation.
