Dr. Magnus Murphy is a highly distinguished urogynecologist with over 30 years of clinical and medical leadership experience. Known as a "master surgeon," he has dedicated his career to advancing women's pelvic health through comprehensive, patient-centered care. He provides a holistic approach to pelvic floor conditions, offering everything from pelvic floor physiotherapy and innovative non-invasive laser therapies to complex reconstructive vaginal surgeries.

Dr. Murphy is the founder of Protea Pelvic Floor Clinic in Calgary and has served in prominent leadership roles, including President of the Alberta Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also an author, educator, and a founding pioneer of pelvic medicine societies in Canada.

Clinical expertise

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery: Bladder prolapse (cystocele) and rectocele repair, uterus prolapse.
  • Urinary Incontinence: stress urinary incontinence surgery (Tension Free Vaginal Sling) and non-surgical procedures.
  • Reconstructive & Cosmetic Gynecology: Vaginal opening tightening (vaginoplasty), labiaplasty, vaginal rejuvenation, anal skin tag removal, external hemorrhoids.
  • Non-Invasive Treatments: Laser treatments for vaginal tightness, dryness, and painful intercourse, as well as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy.

Dr. Murphy co-authored two books, both published by Prometheus Books of New York, explaining the pelvic floor and the causes of its disorders in detail. He is a frequent speaker at National and International meetings of Urogynecological Societies and Associations.
