Dr. Murphy is the founder of Protea Pelvic Floor Clinic in Calgary and has served in prominent leadership roles, including President of the Alberta Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also an author, educator, and a founding pioneer of pelvic medicine societies in Canada.
Dr. Murphy co-authored two books, both published by Prometheus Books of New York, explaining the pelvic floor and the causes of its disorders in detail. He is a frequent speaker at National and International meetings of Urogynecological Societies and Associations.
