Dr. Syal was a competitive tennis player, earning academic and athletic scholarships to Cumberland University in Tennessee, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science and earned team MVP and NAIA National Student-Athlete honours.

In 2012 Dr. Syal joined the staff at Langley Memorial Hospital in Langley, BC. Since joining the staff at LMH he has had the privilege and responsibility of serving as the Division Head of Orthopedics and the Department Head of Surgery.

Dr. Syal is involved with teaching medical students as a UBC Clinical Instructor in the Division of Comprehensive Orthopedics, within the UBC Department of Orthopedics.Originally from Ontario, Dr. Abeer Syal has made Langley, BC, and the surrounding Fraser Valley his home since 2012. In that time, he has earned praise from his patients, colleagues, and hospital administrators and staff for his professionalism, technical abilities, knowledge, leadership, and affable nature.

Dr. Syal provides a patient centered approach and institutes leading edge techniques in the management and care of his patients. He continues to attend orthopedic conferences and training seminars to stay up to date on the advances in orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Syal has continued playing tennis and shooting hoops with his kids when work doesn’t get in the way. He loves music and cheering on his kids at their sporting events.

He resides in Langley with his wife and children.
