About

Dr. Marie-Lyne Nault is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon and clinician-researcher specializing in sports medicine and complex knee reconstruction. With an academic background that includes both a Medical Degree and a PhD, Dr. Nault is at the forefront of evidence-based orthopedic care. Operating out of Montréal, QC, she is sought after for her expertise of minimally invasive arthroscopy, ligament repair (such as ACL, MCL, MPFL reconstruction), and patellofemoral (kneecap) instability. Her primary goal is joint preservation—helping athletes and highly active individuals overcome devastating injuries, protect their native joints, and safely return to the sports and lifestyles they love.

Clinical Focus & Expertise

  • Sports Medicine & Ligament Reconstruction: Expert surgical management of sports-related injuries, including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears and multi-ligament knee reconstruction.
  • Patellofemoral Instability: Highly specialized care for kneecap dislocations and tracking issues, restoring stability to the front of the knee.
  • Meniscus & Cartilage Preservation: Minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques designed to repair torn meniscus tissue and restore damaged cartilage, delaying or preventing the need for future joint replacement.
  • Pediatric & Young Adult Orthopedics: Deep expertise in treating growing athletes and young adults, ensuring surgical techniques respect growth plates and long-term joint health.
  • Minimally Invasive Arthroscopy: Utilizing advanced camera-guided techniques to perform complex joint repairs through tiny incisions, resulting in less pain and faster rehabilitation.

Dr. Nault performs a high volume of pediatric sports knee surgeries and is recognized as a leading expert in pediatric orthopedic knee conditions, including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and meniscus repair. Additionally, she is an authority in pediatric ankle arthroscopy. She is recognized for establishing Canada’s first pediatric sports medicine "living lab" at CHU Sainte-Justine.

She leads multiple research, clinical, and academic initiatives in sports medicine. She founded and directs a pioneering pediatric sports medicine laboratory within her institution, dedicated to integrating cutting-edge research with clinical practice. This dynamic hub has attracted outstanding collaborators from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared mission to enhance care for patients with sports-related injuries.
